    Can't find some 67 parts

I need the plastic sleeve that goes on the steering column, under the dash. Didn't see them in LI or Paragon. Also at a NCRS meet, they told me I needed some king of anti-rattle cushion that I THINK goes on the under side of the roadster deck-lid, not very clear on that.

The plastic screen, discontinued by GM eons ago, is practically impossible to find. As far as I know, it is not reproduced.

Go to a junkyard and find a 1967 Gm steering column, cut plastic cover off and reconstruck to fit 67 Corvette.

Is this the same as 66 column?

No, I don't think that 66 used a collapseable column whereas 1967 did. The plastic shield was associated with the collapseable feature.

Re: Can't find some 67 parts

I wager a guess that the judges were referring to die-cut rubber pads about 1-inch square that have been seen on the bottom side of some convertible deck lids just above the folded front header bar latch handles. Some of the mid-year JG books cite these 'bumpers', but others of us scratch our heads.

Why? Well, take your copy of the '67 AIM, flip to UPC 1, Sheets F6-F7 where the rear deck lid is being assembled. You'll note the ABSENCE of a part call out for these bumpers. Same for '65 and '66...

So, some of us question if these were actually installed on all factory production cars vs. installed on exception either at the plant or dealership. But, you'll find them listed by some of the parts catalog houses and we HAVE seen some, apparently untouched cars, with the pads installed...

                  Keith,

What anti-rattle piece are you talking about? Was that on your interior sheets from this weekend?

My 73 B body Mopar has the plastic sleeve. Appears to be the same as the sleeve on my 67 Vette. A junk yard visit will probably yield many.

Pictured below are the MOPAR sleeves

A 67 column and sleeve can be seen here for comparison; https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...62706&uid=9638

Actually I need the sleeve. Email me direct carnold@coj.net with price and I will have a friend (Larry) stop buy and get it.

You can also try Corvette USA (Americas Finest). Mike advertises in the Driveline and usually has some of the hard to find pieces.

                              Keith,

These are the anti-rattle pads found on the underside of the convertible deck lid. These pictures were taken from an unrestored 1965 convertible VIN 2209x.

                              Regards,
