Has anyone had experience with this converison? I do realize I will have to overcome the rear bumper ports. I plan on using stock Corvette 2 1/2 in. exhaust manifolds with stock 2 1/2 header from a 62. Any help will be appreciated.

I don't think you'll really gain much with such a conversion. However, the rear bumper port size should not be a problem. Many mufflers with 2-1/2" inlets have 2" outlets. Even if the ones you use don't that's pretty easily changed. If you wish to use 2-1/2" all the way back, you can simply use a 2-1/2"-to2" reducer just before the bumper. That's very easy to do.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

It depends on how much air your engine can pump - probably won't do much on any 283 unless it's got massaged heads and is making close to 300 honest gross HP, which is about 220 SAE corrected RWHP on a Dynojet, which is about what a Flint-built L-79 can do.
