Hopefully this is a simple question. I finally got around to installing a clean air tube on my 65 and removed the shielding. Putting it back together I can't remember if the little tab on the horizontal piece goes inside or outside of the vertical piece. Photo is of of driver's side. Any input? To me it makes sense for it to go inside (not like it is pictured) with the other tab that is parallel to the firewall to go outside the vertical piece (like it is pictured but hard to see). Thanks in advance.

Re: Ignition Shield Orientation
Friend and I went through this discussion a while ago on my wife's '63 and his '65. You have it correct. The AIM shows it that way too.

Re: Ignition Shield Orientation
I can remember when my 63 was first judged at Marlborough. Some "nice" judge (friend of mine) came over to look at the car while it was getting the ops done in the rain. He said, "Your shielding on drivers side is not correct. Tab goes in side the verticle shield. So in a panic move we attempted to put the tab inside the verticle piece. Well it just didn't fit right but we forced the tab inside.
And so the car was judged. Then got nice ding cause the tab goes on the outside as you all know now.
