    New Tires for a C5

I know this forum really doesn't cater to the C5's, but I assume many of our memebrs have C5's in addition to their older toys. So maybe I can get some advice.

My 50th Anniversary needs tires and I'm thinking of getting away from the runflats. I ran into another C5 owner at a car show and he recommended that I get:

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires

Has anyone purchased these tires and are you happy with them? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Jerry,

I replaced my Goodyears with Michelin Pilot Sports runflats on my C5 just before the NCRS Road Tour in JUly. No more bouncing around around corners and the car rode alot smoother and seems to grab the road better in the rain. You can tell the differece the first mile you drive it. And the price was right. Discount Tire $1000 for a set of four installed. That included a $100 rebate.

PS- I was glad I had the Michelins when I hit 100 MPH on the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

I am running the Michelin Pilot Sports runflats on my C6 and really like them. Quieter and handle very well in the wet and dry.

        Thanks Matt & Gary.

Do the Michelin runflats run much smoother than the Goodyears or should I go the the "normal" tires that are not runflats?

I would assume that Michelin has a booth at Carlisle that I can get them changed out down there???

My wifes 98 had the original goodyear tires (14K miles) on it. From sitting so much the tires had flatspots in them and wouldn't run out after driving in hot weather. Replaced the goodyears and factory mags with the pilot sport plus run flats ($1200) and ZR1 style wheels.
Great tires and would reccomend them. Handles and rides like the new car it is.
Also replaced the TPMs, there are some after markets out there at half the price of the GM TPMs.
Purchased a set of Tire Craddles to prevent flat spots in the future, seemed like a small price to pay to keep from ruinning a set of tires on a car that sits alot.

To me thr runflats were a bit smoother than the Goodyears but I prefer not to want to worry what to do If I had a flat.

Last year there was a booth where someone was selling Michelins but you had to go off site to have them mounted.

I use the pilot run flats on all of the C5's I get in the dealership needing tires. Good ride, good wear and they actually look good on the car.

I put the Run Flat Pilot Sports on my C6 ZO6. OEM tires were gone at 12K miles. These are quieter and seem to handle better, although I don't drive hard. When I traded my C5 ZO6 in it had the original tires on it and they were worn out at 16K miles. We'll see if the Pilot Sports last longer. People on ZO6Vette.com say they do.

                  Jerry,

I forgot to mention that they are a lot quieter than the Goodyears. You'll notice a big difference at highway speeds. And I would recommend the runflats for obvious reasons.

                    Sorry, but what are TPM's?

I agree with everyone above. I have Michelin Pilot Sports on my 01 and they great. Nice handling, quiet and good in the rain.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I ordered a set of Michelin Pilot runflats from Tire Rack and they'll be installed in time for Carlisle. The 5 hour drive will be a bit smoother now!
