RPO 684 wheel size

Hello,

I have a '58 RPO 684 car I am finishing up the restoration on and was wondering if these cars with the wide wheels (RPO 276) used the standard sized tires that the 15" rims used (I believe it was 205/75 - 15)?

Also, any suggestions on a size for some radial tires I can put on these rims? Planing to drive the car so would like some "driver" tires for it.

The original tire size was 670/15 for both the 5" and the 5 1/2" wheels. the 205/75 is a commonly used radial tire size that is close to the original dimensions.

Ken, do you have the "original" 5.5 wheels with riveted center hubs? I ask as they are hard to find, and many RPO car owners use a 80-80 "welded" 1963-64 replacement for driving wheels and save the originals for shows.

Many of the original wheels are not that safe as stud holes have been reemed, and the 'rivets' may be weak from racing use in the past.
