Re: Floor mat question
The red ones look to be roughly 78 vintage. The are exactly like the ones in my 78. The black ones I cannot identify. Never seen any like that.Tom Hendricks

Re: Floor mat question
1977 - dead sure! (I am still waiting for Vinnie to approve my Restorer-article on those.......)
Oh, that is on the right (black) ones - the left ones are 1978/later and OEM replacements, as Tom already answered.- Top

Re: Floor mat question
Oliver how easy is it to find a set of original floor mats for a 1977? Also, how much does a original set of floor mats cost that are in excellent condition? Thanks.- Top

Re: Floor mat question
Mike,
Since Oliver is in Germany his answer to your question might be different than for those of us in the USA. And if he quoted you prices in Deutsche Marks it would be more confusing.
Sorry I just couldn't resist.Terry- Top

Re: Floor mat question
We're on Euros meanwhile.....
But cool, that you recall where I'm located...
And actually I CAN say something on values/prices - although (simply due to lack of mass - say: mat-sets available) maybe a little vaguely only:
From time to time, these sets appear (check the TDB here, or e-bay) - sometimes even in NOS-mint condition.
But as these (77 ONLY) sets were not produced in THAT high numbers*, and those few are rather aged meanwhile, expect them to be a little costly.
To give you a rough figure, I paid some 300 bucks some 1 1/2 years ago for my mint NOS set.
These mats were produced in four color-combos: black/grey (as above), dark/lighter red, dark/lighter blue and dark brown/tan, fitting all stock colors to chose from in '77...
My pending article contains this and far more detailed stuff (plus pictures) - and I'm really proud of it. So keep flooding Vinnie with requests to put it into one of the upcoming issues.
* numbers:
option B32 "Color Keyed Floor Mats" was sold 36,763 times (almost 75%) on Corvettes in 1977. Price was some USD 22 only.
Additionally I'd expect the same number produced as replacements.
But again:
- that's 33 years ago
- we talk about the "most worn" part of the car
- it was a low budget item, so people hardly took great care of keeping them in good condition
- and in the very next year GM changed the look and kept that new one for cars and replacements until 1982.
All that makes those 1977 mats in good condition rather unique nowadays.
Enclosed a pic with the brown/tan ones in my car...Attached Files- Top

Re: Floor mat question
By the way: I found and bought my set through the TDB here - so my statement as above should pretty much meet the question from a "US-perspective"...
And forget about getting those over here in Europe. I'd guess that there are not "that many others" around over here, exept for mine.......- Top

Re: Floor mat question
More input:
okay - you can go lower than 300 if you are not fixed on a color. Here is a blue/blue set (plus box) for around 100 bucks:

Re: Floor mat question
I know you are on Euros now -- I was just poking fun at Mike, with a little sideways poke at you.
I'm glad you can help him with his question. Commerce, even in old Corvette parts, is global now days.Terry- Top

Re: Floor mat question
Thank god - so I too was able to get my mats. I am so proud of them...
Right, we've been in a lot of touch way back then....... Looong time ago...
All the best - and let's see, maybe those blue mats are exactly what Michael was looking for.- Top

Re: Floor mat question
I saw a couple of NOS 78,79 mats for sale at Carlisle. I had a 79 so I'm familiar with that c3 era. One set was green the other Blue. Jeff68 L79 Convertible: Triple Black: Work In Progress, Body off. Now on!
