Is this nose emblem original?

Can anyone assist me in identifying if this is an original nose emblem for a 1967 or a repop? How does one tell?

Hi Gary,

I have not seen the back side of the current Trim Parts reproduction or the more recent GM service replacements, but I have two older GM examples that appear to have the same markings on the back side as yours. One came off the car I'm working on, and the receipt I have for it is dated 6-11-79. The other example is NOS in the old blue, white and black GM box, with the box dated 12-6-76.

Both the 1976 and 1979 examples match yours regarding the position of the part number and the "General" over "Detroit" on the back side, so it seems they were made with the same tooling. I have not yet seen the back side of a confirmed original for comparison.

Hi Gary,

I think the repro.emblems are more detailed, I have one original on my 72 and one repro ( TRIM PARTS). The chrome plating on the repro just to good and no rough edges a the base like the factory has. the repro is just finished to good (Show quality). the reds on the factory are dark red, the repro.s are red/orange.

Thank you for the replies Scott and Ed, The emblem color in the flag is more a shade of cranberry than Red, I guess it may be faded or it could be original. I do appreciate your responses. Gary
