    1980 tachometer not working

I'm trying to determine why the tachometer is not working. It typically sits at the 6700 RPM and will move occasionally when the vehicle is started to 7000. There is an empty lead at the distributor connection. Is something missing? I have read other posts that mention the filter or circuit board may cause the non-working condition. Is there a way to test the filter or ICB before ordering a new part? Thanks

Scott, I think you can by-pass the filter, just as a test, if the tach works you you found the problem . if not your most likely looking at the circut board. from what you saying it sounds like the circut board. which is common.
