Interesting reading. I just purchased 1967 300hp with a CE block.
        It is a 3959512 with a F 12 2 date. The stamp pad is CE2N89942.
Still fits in with the 5 year/50K mile warranty, but hurts for "original".
        Regards Mark

This is a little off-topic but the 454 engine in my 1970 was built two weeks later than the build date of my car. After I bought the car in 2004 and discovered the engine to be a 1977 truck 454---I knew the engine was not the original to the car before I bought it---I set out on a quest to locate a 1970 Corvette engine. Luck hit and I found one in a tiny town just south of San Antonio where the car was bought new. The engine came from a 1970 Corvette LS-5 convertible that was totaled in 1985 and the long block engine sat in a shed for 20 years. When I had it rebuilt .30 over I specifically asked that it not be decked and restamped out of tribute to the "donor" car. My car is an automatic and the suffix code of the donor engine is CGW.
