    Carb Question

This may be a stupid question, but while my 65 250 HP Carter WCFB is out for rebuild, could I put on a spare Edlebrock 750 until the carb comes back? I have not taken off the Carter as yet, so I don't know if the Ellebrock will mate up to the manifold. Hate to be without the car for the time it takes to have the carb done, but don't want to screw it up with the wrong carb either.

    Thanks everyone

    Re: Carb Question

I think you will find that the throttle bores in the edelbrock are larger than the base the carb sits on when attached to the manifold if it is an original 250 hp manifold. If it was a 300 hp, the answer is different, but with a 250 maniflod you will have one H--- of an air leak.

      Re: Carb Question

Thanks Bill, you are correct on the difference in throttle bore sizes since I do have the original 250 HP manifold. Looks like I'll have time for some other work while the car is awaiting the carb.

Depending upon how long it's going to take to get the rebuilt carb back (with certain "in-demand" rebuilders this can be a LONG time), another alternative for an "interim" carburetor would be a Rochester 4 GC. There were a LOT of these things manufactured once-upon-a-time and you should be able to find one pretty easily.
