    1954 Blower motor wiring...routing.

Since most everything else was wrong with this car I need to ask...

What is the correct routing for the heater blower motor wiring? There is a 6" long wire coming out of the motor at the flange where it bolts to the firewall and that's it. The wire was cut off. There are two small holes drilled in the circular metal housing and one of them had a spliced wire going through it that connected to the motor. Also, where does the ground wire hook up?

I sure appreciate any help. Pictures would be even better.

    Thanks!

    Randy

      I guess I could buy a Chilton's manual.

Randy, I will be visiting my 54 in a few days. It is stored off site and I don't get out there that often. I have owned it since 1961, and I will try and take a couple of pics for you. -Dan-

Thanks, Dan. I'd appreciate seeing some pictures.

There is a small hole on the left side of the round metal shroud and another one at the top center that looks like a wire should go through. Just curious if someone drilled the holes or if wires pass through them. Specifically, the ground wire.

Hi Randy, I did visit my 54 today, but I went half cocked I guess. Did not think to bring a flashlight, rag, or anything to lay on.

The heater lead is a brown wire that is probably about one foot long from the firewall. Terminates in a spade terminal. Then another brown wire attaches and goes to the heater switch. The under dash dress on my car is not original, so I cannot tell you with any confidence just how it dresses under the dash. My car has been cobbed up at that point. Sorry I did not photo anything - just did not think it would be useful.
It you want to send me a pic of the holes and ground wire you mention, I would be more than happy to compare it to mine. I am confident my heater motor and the whole core assembly has not been out of the car since the car was built, but everything under the dash has, unfortunately, been massaged (I was the Bubba). -Dan-

              Will do, Dan. Thanks.

If anyone else has any pics or info on grounding and wiring (photos would be nice) I would appreciate it.
