    Intake manifold

Should the intake manifold on a L79 motor have aluminum paint or be unpainted?

    Pat,
You will find that the amount of silver paint varies a lot from car to car and year to year. It appears the coverage is somewhat limited to the areas adjacent to and on the securing bolts and on the gasket and face of the head.

Also at the front and rear along the rubber gasket sometimes. I think the purpose was to cover up messy areas and the top of the cylinder head. You will note orange overspray on the aluminum too.

Generally the areas of the manifold away from those noted areas are bare aluminum, no paint.

      Thank you Gene,

I have the judging manual, but it was not clear to me. I'm in the middle of my rebuild, so I can do what ever is right.
