    Corvette PARTS Collectors

After reading another thread and hearing of the youth's declining interest in our older Corvettes. I began to wonder what will happen to all the parts that you "collectors" have hoarded away? Especially those with the disclaimer "none for sale"! You can't take them with you.........

They may go the same way as the box of baseball cards that our Mother's threw out.

      Don't worry, be happy.

I have inside information that the parts (and cars) will survive us.

Use your Corvette as a casket, 'cause after we're gone they won't be worth nothin'. They also make nice booths in restaurants, such as the defunct Autopub in NYC. Johnny Rockets will buy the whole lot of them for fire sale prices.

Parts will be tossed into the dumpster by descendants or Dept. of Buildings, one of whose responsibilities is the safety of abandoned/derelict buildings and property.

Engine blocks make nice wine racks, wheels make great hose reels, and tars make decent flower pots.

          Hi Kevin,
I've also been thinking about the fact that the number of original owners of the earlier cars will begin to be on the decline too. A sobering thought!
          Regards,

Perhaps, I've got a small pile of parts looking for a welcome home. Price is right $0.00

I have noticed very often that the cars at a car show are all muscle cars. Very seldum that you will see a car from the 20;s, 30's and 40's. It seems to be a trend.

At least as far as I'm concerned, I don't view my parts in terms of monetary value. So, whether their value declines, or not, as a result of possible declining interest in old Corvettes has no relevance to me. As far as not being able to take them with me, there are LOTS of things I can't take with me when I die. In fact, EVERY material thing I possess falls into that category.

Muscle cars are going to go the same way the T's, A's and 32 duces went with the crowd from the 50's and 60's. It is all a matter of time. Some will argue their POV, but time proves all and ends all - in the end. Enjoy it while you can, and as far as the parts, every year there is a hoard somewhere that gets inherited, bought and subsequently sold off. I only hope those of us that have great study groups take pictures, write books or something to document these...

Joe, I used your disclaimer mainly because it makes me want to see or learn or hear more about your collection.
Really, aren't the parts in there "hay day" now? Not simply monetary but the demand that we have for them now?

If one is a "true beliver" then the cars and parts and other material objects don't matter. End of story.

Amazingly the "T's" and "A's" are making a comeback, the classics just keep climbing in value, and the commone cars of the '40's and '50's are holding or gaining value. I believe the collector car hobby is alive and well, just a little short on cash right now.
