Heat Shield

I have a 67BB 435, roadster. Has anybody heard of a heat shield that goes on the wiring harness by the starter selonoid?

Dave, I know on small block 67's the soleniod has a heat shield, what's the AIM show for the BB..

Thanks, Tim. Yes I see the heat shield for the starter solenoid to protect the wiring harness on the SB engines, but nothing for the 435 BB. My wires are starting to stick together from the heat of the engine. VERY CONCERNED.

AIM lists 'Starting Motor and Control' as unillustrated components for base BB in 1967...

No heat shield on mine either, but I did use a factory type, black strap tie to tie the wires back tightly (and more away from the engine) to the battery cable. I got no deducts in last judging for that.

No heat shield on a BB, but there is a spring clamp that attaches to the solenoid that keeps the wires away from the manifold.

I haven't been able to find a metal heat shield for BB. Although Moroso lists one, there's not one in stock in the US. I got a 'cloth' one from CC. To answer OP's question, I understand BB's did not come with a shield.

The Parts & Accessories catalog indicates first use of a starter/solenoid heat shield as being applicable to '68 & later Corvette...

Hi Stephen, Thanks for the info. Question, where did you get this spring clamp and what does it look like?

Dave, The clip is available from Long Island Corvette #21-35 $15. It snaps onto the solenoid with a raised space to run the wiring thru. Its also a real pain to install..... Good luck
