    Hi;

    I had a 1999 Hardtop; black on black, 345/345, 6 speed with the Z51 suspension. It was a wonderful car... cornered like it was on rails! Believe it or not, I could register over 30MPG on the highway. Foolishly I traded it in... Looking back, that hardtop model was only made in 1999 and 2000 and ultimately became the Z06.. There were very few made per the black book and few around today. I saw one at Carlisle, a silver 2000 and the guy was asking like $18K.. If you want something a little different and somewhat rare, you might look for one of these.

      Joel, Do you remember who it was that was selling that car?
      I really was interested more in yellow than any other color but I really like "different and rare". I can be swayed!

        Did not know that, Paul. I thought that all of the insurance companies reported to CarFax.

        BTW, Valeria, I'm partial to yellow too.

            [quote=Chuck Gongloff (5629);508763]Did not know that, Paul. I thought that all of the insurance companies reported to CarFax.

            I believe that it is still voluntary. Over the last two years, my two daughters and my mother have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time (on more than one occaision). Three of these accidents involved cars that I had purchased for resale, including the one that should have been totalled but was repaired. I went after the insurance companies for devaluation because of the accidents, but they had none of that, despite the existance of rules governing this. They repaired the cars and said nothing to CarFax or anyone else.

            I'm only guessing, but I think they may be concerned about liability for any decrease in value (or related losses from a failed sale) if they volunteer information to any third party and that information affects the sale.

              Very interesting!!
              I guess this means I will really have to inspect any prospects carefully from underneath along with the seams of movable parts ie, doors, hoods, trunk lids.

              I am not in any big hurry to buy but I know that this is the time to buy a late C5.

              I am looking for a yellow coupe/convertible 2004 with low mileage. I have all the time I need to buy.

              Thanks to all for your most knowledgeable assistance. You are the best on this planet!! I've said it before and I'll say it again!!
              Thank you all for your help.

                Thanks to all who assisted in this search.
                The car that I was really interested in sold.

                The search will go on. I am looking for a 2003 - 2004 C5 that is Yellow. I would take a red with black interior. I want low mileage, one owner and all numbers matching. I am saving my pennies until then!

                Valeria

                Thanks for your your assistance in my pleasures!
