    Sway bar bushing help 66

I am in the process of replacing my rear sway bar bushings - the ones that mount to the u shaped bracket and the ones inside the U shaped bracket. I ordered the parts from Zip corvette and they look the same as the ones i pulled out.

I have a 12 ton press from harbor freight - however, when is start to apply any significant pressure the bushings compress to the side.

Assuming I have the right parts = what is the trick??

    Thanks

    Ken,
First do the bushings have the correct center hole size for your sway bar? Assume correct size and they are rubber and not urethane. Oil up the bushing center holes first. Assemble bushings over sway bar and slip over the "u" brackets. Use longer than original bolts so you can secure assembly to frame. Draw them up snug. Then place a c-clamp to secure bracket and remove one screw. Replace one screw at a time. Then do other screw. If will be easier for you to clamp one flange at a time rather than the whole thing in the center. That should do you.
