You can send the old canister out for powercoat and silk screening, I did that with mine and it's perfect.
Like most repro parts, there is always something amiss and these canisters are the same with there thinner guage metal can and now the bolt length. Ken from Orindales will do the job and you will be completely satisfied. Check archives for # and more info.- Top

I'm with Tim on this one. I have both my original and a "thin" repro. I used to switch between them at each oil change, but I never felt comfortible when the Paragon canister was on the car. I don't know why, specially when you consider the spin on filters are of paper thin metal in comparison. My paranoya is probably due to an experience I had running over a starter dropped by a junk truck. It badly dented my pan and tore a hole in my filter (this was on a Chevy passenger car). As such, I like the extra beef of the original canister.
