While looking for a 427/425 engine for my '66 convertible, all of the engines that I have located have casting dates in September or Feb/March. Is it possible that the blocks were not cast throughout the production year and only at the beginning and middle? Dave

Re: 1966 427/425 Casting Dates
Pancho, Ron is correct. I have a car built in mid-February and am trying to locate an L72, 427/425 engine. I have found engines built in Sept. and Feb./March but not with a date more compatible with the build date of my car. I am aware of the 6 month thinking used by NCRS, but Sept. is a bit on the outside of that. Beggars can't be choosers at this point, but I am trying to find the best possible engine compatibility. Re: 1966 427/425 Casting Dates
Hi Mike,
These dates are just what I expected to see for end of 1st qtr ~ 2nd qtr production, 1966 Big Blocks. Very little time from Tonawanda to St Louis.
Dave, as suggested, need to get data for Jan Feb BB cars.
My Dec 13 trim 70xx VIN had Sept castings for all motor parts within three weeks, but I no longer have the specifics, they went with the car a very long time ago.- Top
