I need to replace the rear weatherstrip on my '61 hardtop. Is it doable for the average guy or do I need to send it out. If so, does anyone know of a reasonable place to have it done in Southern California. Thanks, Sandy Gilman

Re: C-1 Hardtop rear weatherstrip
i hesitated restoring a C-1 hardtop since the late 70's. then, in the late 90's, i had my 61 hardtop restored by ted, the pittsburg hardtop guru who has since passed on. his son is taking over the operation as i understand. anyway, after ted did my stock 61, i decided to restore the hardtop on my modified 61(see Restorer, vol 27 #4, p.11). i did the top in a short weekend using repro parts from ted. i'd caution you not to use a NORS plexiglass rear window. if yours in in need of replacement, get the repo from ted's son as they fit much better than the NORS window i bought over the chevy counter in the mid-70's. good luck,mike- Top

Re: C-1 Hardtop rear weatherstrip
It's doable but a real PITA. You really need to know the sequence of dismantling and reassembly. Call the guys at The Glassworks in Pittsburgh Pa. They were very helpfull when I did mine. They also carry all parts that you will need for the rebuild.- Top
