Service Carb still # matching?

I am looking for a Holley 2818 carb for my 64 327/365, I came across couple NOS of Service carbs (w/o date code), do they still consider # matching if used? Or better to find ones w/ the right date code? how is it judged in NCRS?

I'm sure the carbs you are talking about are the current reproductions made by Holley that only have the part number and no date code.

Any judge would certainly give you more credit for an exact reproduced Holley with the correct part number than a carb that just looks like an original.

Unless the team leader (who never answers questions on this board) has established a standard it is up to the individual judge.

40 originality points are allocated to the carburetor; 8 points each (20%) to configuration, finish, date, completeness, and installation. Lack of a date would result in an 8-point deduction, and if it's one of the later re-runs with incorrect bowl screws, etc., it might lose a few more points for configuration.
