any car with a stick is easy, just put a jumper wire from the + of the battery to the + terminal of the coil and bump start it.

The gear is locked in reverse by a cable running from the tranny to the steering column. The cable is locked when the key is not in the ignition.

Ken, is this the Alpine system that was sold about 20 yrs ago before Alpine got out of the car alarm business?

If it is, I had one in my minvan. I could never get the radar part of it at the right setting so it wouldn't trip off during temperature changes. I eventually shut the radar part of it off.

that is in the later corvettes not in mid years or earlier. the best thing i have found is a fuel shut off because with a carbureted car it will allow them to get the car out into traffic before the engine shuts off and they we park it and run away.

Re: How do they steal a Corvette?

I no longer have any such devices and depend mostly on limited exposure outside my home, and the home protection features while garaged.

I always figured that if I was really upset enough about the prospect of losing my Vette to thieves, what direction should my efforts be toward; keeping the car, keeping it undamaged, or punishing the thieves. I chose the latter. Does anyone know where I can get a surplus Claymore mine??
You see, I have this spot under my dash, and I'd aim it right at their former midsection, etc., etc.

Watching LeMans, the Vettes(and others) have those air powered jacks built in for quick pit stops.

So.....how about intalling those(but electrically powered). They would drop down but would have heavy duty teeth on the ends instead of pads. the jacks would only support, maybe 10% of the weight, but the teeth would swivel such that if the vehicle would be dragged, the car would ride up onto the teeth and the teeth would support a lot more weight. The teeth would dig into the pavement and would also get hung up on any flat bed ramp.

                          Just thinking out loud.

what if you mounted one of those upside down under the drivers seat that would pop out like an air bag! he would never steal another car.

I have a built in security system. One old pain in the Butt cat that loves my car. I can not get her out of it! Scares the hell out of me with the claws, but if I open the garage or have it in the driveway, old Slinky sneaks in.

No one wants this cat. They will leave the car alone, trust me.

I tried to post a picture of her in behind my seat but the pic is too large.
