    1962 - 7233 Starter Date Logic

    Help (again)

Would it be acceptable from a judging perspective to have a starter dated 1J21 (September 21,1961) on a 1962 Corvette with engine assembly 9/28 and final assembly 10/9. I'm also clueless at what point in the process the starter was installed...at Flint or at St. Louis??

As always, your help is appreciated.

    Thanks much.

The starter was installed at St. Louis. The date you describe for the starter (9/21/61) works very well for a car built 10/9/61. In fact, it's a date that not only conforms to NCRS guidelines but is probably very typical to what actually occurred in PRODUCTION.

Thanks, Joe...that is GREAT news because the 7233 seems hard enough to find regardless of the date, and to find one this compatable is pure luck.

Wow what a great find! Who knows......maybe that is the "original" starter!

My documentation of original 7233 starters in 62's demonstrates a generally greater lead time than what yours is, but it is not outside the realm of possibility--I'd go for it !
