    Voltage Regulator for a '62

Can someone please verify that I am looking for the correct voltage regulator for my brother's '62 340hp car.
I have been looking for a 1119 002 regulator and found one, but the date on it is 1957. That seems to be too old for a '62.
Anyone have a different part number for the '62?
    Thanks
    The date stamp is 7E.
I am assuming that is 1957 not 1967?

Delco 1119002E is the correct regulator for all 62s. The mounting flange should have 1119 on one line and a larger font 002E. Depending on you cars VIN the date should have a 1 or 2 followed by a letter. A= Jan. B = Feb ect)

The '9002 was not unique either to Corvette or to 1962, it was used in several "heavy duty" charging systems over several years, thus the 7 does indicate 1957 as the date of manufacture and would not be a full credit part for a '62.

They are VERY rare! In walking the scrap yards for +12 years, I've never found one on a '62 Caddy. But, I HAVE found a whooping TWO units of the whiley critter installed on LARGE GMC/Chevy trucks.

If I were the thread poster, I think I'd grab the early 9002 and simply accept the deduction(s) for Date and Configuration differences. Correct original '2E' regulators can go for $500-1000!!!!

On the deduction(s) I postulated, the date issue is obvious but the configuration aspect may require a few more words...

The EARLY Delco Remy voltage regulators attached the cover to the base via LONG screws through the top surface of the cover. Later era covers secured to the based via short screws through the case flange.

Plus, the early regulators had the PN stamped on one line while later regulators that provided a revision character in addition to the PN, broke the stamp sequence into two lines. These are the 'Configuration' differences I was referring to about a '9002' versus a '9002E'...

The other day I saw a ad in the latest Driveline for a 002E. I recall it was $700.

              Richard,
I can remember checking every Cadillac, without air, school bus and GM truck in junk yards for years in fact I still do, looking for that holy grail of a regulator for the 62 Corvette. I haven't found one yet.

Found a 002E in a Cadillac about 10 years ago--as I exulted in that I looked on the back seat, and there sat a perfectly good fan and clutch for a 62 Cadillac and Corvette. I got hosed, though---$4 for the regulator and $8 for the clutch and fan.
BTW--information in previous posts is right on--correct date, as you know, depends on the VIN of your car. Should be 1K, 2B, or whatever is right for yours.
