Is anyone making a correct 5 ply trunk board for a 1959? CC does not have them and I think Paragons are not correct. Thanks in advance.

Re: C-1 Trunk Board
Jerry, I went to a C-1 judging class last year and remember that they talked about the trunk board, and said if you can find the a piece of plywood with the correct number of knots in the board you could make your own.thats if you have one to use as a template.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: C-1 Trunk Board
Mike, maybe I should have worked it different the plywood you buy today doesn't have as many knots as the factory boards did.
Does this sound right to ya Mike ?New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: C-1 Trunk Board
Actually today's plywood generally has more repaired knots (cat's eyes) than original boards. An original board board usually had no such knots on the top and only one or two on the reverse.
The other major difference between original and repo boards is the stain. Originals have a very thin stain. All the grain in the plywood is clearly visible. Repo boards are much too dark (finish too thick).
Hope this helps.
