    Goodyear Wheel Weights

I know these probably were not original to any Corvettes, but I thought that I would ask here.

I'm looking for some different sizes of wheel weights like these Goodyear marked ones in the picture.

Has anyone here seen weights like this or have any information about them? Were they fairly common? I've never seen one before.

    Thanks,

    Brant

Brant, I think there were a few different style of wheel weights manufactured for the mid year cars, Micro was one the other I am not sure of. I don't recall Goodyear. if you can find some Micro weights they will judge well. the current reproduction are not quite right. used ones in the junk yards would be your best bet.

      Edward,

Thanks for the reply, but I'm more interested in finding out about the Goodyear marked weights (rather than Corvette application) in case anyone has seen them or knows of any.

This picture is actually from a wheel from a Shelby American product (early GT350.)

      Thanks again,

      Brant

        Brant -

They were probably furnished to Goodyear tire stores and to Goodyear distributors; Shelby was (and still is) a major Goodyear race tire distributor.

Edward - You are "right on" in that the older MICRO wheel weights judge best as they are the configuration that came on the cars in the 60s and 70s, but what I trust what you refer to as "reproduction" MICRO wheel weights are the current MICRO weights as they are still being manufactured by the BADA Division in Hennessy, Indiana although the configuration of the current weights is slightly different. But do you know that this is an ORIGINAL wheel weight from the car in question? If the tires mounted are the original tires and you're sure they have never been de-mounted for a flat repair, then it's possible they are original. Otherwise, and most likely, they are replacements that occurred somewhere "along the way".

I agree with John. I strongly suspect that these weights were a once-upon-a-time "feature" used by Goodyear Tire dealers and supplied to them by Goodyear. Of course, I highly doubt that Goodyear actually manufactured these weights and that they were manufactured by a supplier with the Goodyear brand. But, it's possible that Goodyear did manufacture them. Maybe the "brainchild" of some overpaid executive who decided that if Goodyear manufactured tires, they ought to get into all aspects of the business.
