    Opinion on this C3

Can anyone give me their opinion on the value of this 1972. The price seems to fall within my price range but I'm still feeling my way around the C3's.

    Thanks,

    Glen

It's hard t say without a personal inspection, but from the ad, the car doesn't sound like a bad buy. You don't get much of a bumper C3 for that kind of money.

Thanks Tom. Do you happent to know how difficult is it to get the original a/c compressor rebuilt?

        Glen,

That's a reasonable price for what the car is. It might be a little high, but the owner has done some work to it recently and not too many things are missing. It would make a great driver.

Anyone can rebuild the compressor, but you may wish to convert it to R134a if you're going to drive the car much. A complete system repair can run between $800 and $1800 depending on what you want to do with the system. If you want to stay with R-12, check out some of the vendors in Driveline or google vintage AC repair and restoration. That should give you a better idea of the cost.

Not a bad car depending on yoru goals.
The frame at one of the trailing arms looks a bit suspicious, so I'd check that area out thorougly.

You could probably drive it and then work on it over time to bring it back to stock, if that was what you wanted.

Yes, I noticed that, too. Plus, the car lives in Ohio which, by itself, would be cause for concern. I would say if the frame checks out solid, it would be a good buy even if the car has other problems that are not readily apparent. However, if the frame is bad, I wouldn't touch it at any price.

It is but as I mentioned IF AND ONLY IF THE CAR HAS NO SIGNIFICANT FRAME OR BIRDCAGE CORROSION. If it does, I would not touch it at ANY price.

I second Joe's comment. Glen, if you are interested, I would try to locate someone in Ohio that can go inspect it for you. That is what I did when I bought my C3 (I'm in Pa and the car was in MI) and it was money well spent.

It looks like a real nice driver at a very fair price. Good luck!
