    Chipmunk in Garage

How do I get rid of it.
Found acorns on the workbench and droppings.
Garage is concrete raised footings all around
I see no places for entry on the inside or perimeter outside.
In the summer I often have both doors open when working but close everything down tight when done.
I have no cats or dogs so that is not an option and don't want any.
Are there any old school remedies I can use or any electronic devices that will encourage him to leave as it is fall in New England now and I want him out before winter and he does anything to my restored 68 Coupe.
Then I will be forced to find and kill every Chipmunk in the USA to make sure I get him.
Any suggestions of things you've done that worked ?
Presently have moth balls everywhere but don't know if that is a good idea or not.
    Thank you in advance,
    Kurt

They will eat the living S*(*(* out of everything. I had some make a home in an engine bay in a truck I had stored at a friends over the winter, I had a stuffed HVAC system, he lost the dash wiring on two trucks.

Get those packets of rat mouse killer (green blocks at the local HD or.... They should eat that. They are more rain resistant.

Put it out side, by the doors, etc. Take Preventative steps so the don't get in.

Hi Kurt. Get yourself a couple of "wind-up" live traps. Good sized ones for chipmunks are about 8 - 10" rectangular, made of galvanized sheet metal. Place them on the floor where the wall meets floor.

If you use rat killer, it needs to be in a bait box as it will kill dogs, cats, etc. Use the blocks, not the pellets. They will carry the pellets off with them.

I got rid of an entire family of squirrels that took up residence in my attic. I used a regular "snap action" rat trap about 7" long, which I tied to a rafter. 10 nights later I had 10 dead squirrels.... one at a time. I used sunflower seeds sprinkled on some peanut butter for bait.

After admitting this I'll probably be on some animal rights activist list.....

Try a garage cat if all else fails.

I rmoved about 8 flying squirrels from my attic using a trap that actually trapped the little squirrels. They would go in the trap to get the peanuts and trip the trap door and I relocated the squirrels. When I knew I had no flying squirrels in the attic I fixed their entry point to prevent entry. That was about four years ago. Still have the trap in the attic with peanuts, no action yet.

                Jim,
That is the humane way to do it. I made a mouse trap like that and still have it.
I hope I never get my wires eaten or it might make me change my mind.
I walked in a garage in the desert near Palm Springs and the guy had the doors, hoods, and trunks open on all his cars he collected.
He said it was not dark enough for the critters to want to make a home in.

My neighbor has chipmunks, but we don't; she can't catch 'em...but she scares 'em good.

                        Re: Chipmunk in Garage

if you want to drown them take a 5 gallon plastic bucket, put in 6" of water, sprinkle sunflower seeds on top the water, build a wood ramp from the floor to the top of the bucket. sprinkle a few sunflower seeds on the ram to get them to climb up and then jump into the bucket when they see the seeds. another way is to super glue the seeds to a plastic pop bottle and suspend the pop bottle by drilling holes thru both end of the bottle and drill holes in the bucket about 2" down from the top and insert a wire coat hanger thru the one side of the bucket, thru both ends of the bottle and into the other side of the bucket. the pop bottle should spin free so when they jump on the bottle it spins and they end up in up in the water. i use this system with peanuts glued to the pop bottle to kill mice at our camp. i also use RV anti freeze for a liquid as it does not freeze in the winter and i have gotten as many a 50 mice over the winter in 5 buckets we have at the cabin.

I have used the bucket method before with good success
