Use a rat-sized glue tray as made to catch mice and rats.
    Works well.

Then again, so does 36gr of lead subsonic in my .22 rifle.

Borrow someone's Jack Russell "TERROR". I have one that rids the property of moles, gophers, pack rats,mice....etc. I turn her loose in my shop every now and then just to patrol.

        Good luck

I used to use moth balls until one Spring I found the moth balls stuffed in the frame rails near where the little b*stards had stuffed their acorns. It was all very neatly packed. I wondered if they were using the moth balls to keep other critters away.

I've tried everything over the years. Right now, I've got moth balls, Irish Spring, dryer softener sheets, coyote urine, rat poison, Fresh Cab, and one of those electronic-you-can't-hear-it-but-the-animals-can gizmos. Fresh Cab is the latest and greatest stuff. Smells nice. Google it. Or, NAPA now carries it. They call it "Store It Right" mouse pouches.

My local Ace Hardware had coyote pee. Grossed me out too, and it was expensive.

I don't believe any smell repels animals. I believe that the little b*stards rely heavily on their sense of smell for protection, and that they don't like anything that overpowers their sense of smell. But in tough times, they will nest in what they consider less desirable places. We all make trade-offs and compromises.

I don't believe anything smelly will keep them away. But that doesn't mean I won't use it anyway. I'm now relying on a car bag. Clem's antifreeze bucket trap will be next.

Last year we were overrun with chipmunks, until they chewed away the rubber seal under the garage door, then found a package of rat poison on a garage shelf... Must have been a family dinning affair, cause this year they were a very uncommon sight.....
