    73 Paint Sequence

I am getting ready to paint my 73 coupe and have searched the archives but still have a few questions. From what I have read the body was painted with the doors and hood attached.

    1. The interior of the door has some black out up next to the upper hinge. When was this applied and if after body paint was some sort of masking used?

    2. Were the head light housings in place? If not do we expect to find overspray on the panels behind the headlight openings?

    3. Am I correct in stating the front bumper cover was not attached and was painted at another location ?

Thanks for any help with these questions.

    George -

    1. Not sure about that one - that's a C3-unique thing; most likely was done after color, using a spray shield.

    2. Yes, the headlight housings were in place during painting.

    3. The bumper cover was painted separately (used a different paint formulation with a flex agent) and was installed on the Final Line after Body Drop.
