    Outdoor Winter Storage

I've read much in the forums about indoor storage and use of car capsules, etc. Any thoughts on best ways to prepare a car for outdoor winter storage when indoor storage isn't an option? Thanks!

The basics, good anti freeze, plenty of air in the tires, take the battery out, put some fuel stabilizer in and hope for the best.

If it is a classic Corvette, I would find indoor storage. The cost of storage will be cheaper than the cost of deterioration of outdoor storage. JMO.

DO NOT COVER THE CAR. The composite must breathe otherwise it will blister the paint. Fiberglass composite WILL absorb moisture. Park it under a car port, or build an enclosure for it to keep the snow off of it.

I second the point - find indoor storage, the winter will eat then metal on these cars faster than fast.

I'd rather sleep outside and put my car INSIDE over the winter!

Take one more look around for indoor storage if at all possible!!!!! Even if it's not heated, four walls and a roof will be better than sitting outside.

The earliest owner I can find for my car happened to be living in Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1975. Appleton is up by Green Bay. Very cold, lots of snow. He told me that right after he bought the car, he parked it behind his garage and "threw a tarp over it for the winter." I still cringe at the thought........

Thanks to all for the replies and suggestions. First of all, the car is not a Corvette (fortunately) and the owner (not me) is thinking of using a Car Capsule or similar product outside. I figured if anyone knew anything about storing a car it would be NCRSers. As always, you didn't let me down!!!

Car capsule offers an outdoor unit. Go to their website. You can control the moisture by using desiccants.
I use their indoor version in a non climate controlled space.

UPDATE: Dessiccants don't work in a car capsule. You will need a dehumidifier. Good ones are under $200
