1964 Backlite Recall

Was there a recall of the 1964 Coupe backlite? My backlite is not flat and distorts the view. I heard there was a recall. Anybody?

Have never heard of such a recall. Recalls were virtually unheard of prior to 1968, when the Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (MVSS) law was passed. Customer complaint issues in the 60's were usually handled via TSB's, but I've never seen one on '64 rear window glass.

Perhaps Gene has some aftermarket glass?? The subject sure threw me.

Possibly aftermarket glass, but would any aftermarket supplier tool up for this special glass? The car was in Germany for a period of time maybe some supplier did it over there.

Actually I checked this glass just now and it is LOF glass. It reads "Soft-Ray, Safety (LOF) Plate, AS2, Solid Tempered. I think it is original.

It also has the "Air Conditioned" sticker on the backlite which I believe to be original.

It may be some test glass or prototype glass. It is a mystery.
