    "For sale" section thread missing

Am I blind or did the thread addressing a new "For Sale" section just disappear?

    Thanks.

Received an email advising "the survey was not authorized" and was directed to remove it.

Not that it really matters, but you've got my curiosity up. Who authorizes surveys ??

Lots and lots and lots of looks for this post - if you noticed. In the 2 days or so it was up, I believe we saw over 1200 views. Seems to me a strong statement of potential.

I hope those that are empowered to serve the members are looking and listening.

              Tom,

would venture that Gary and other moderators probably talked to the BoD and they directed it be removed

This all is getting STUPID RIDICULOUS already!!!!

Just add the damn forum - IT AIN'T rocket science!!!

We left snail mail and newspapers ages ago already.
EVERYONE has a computer, if my old as dirt "dumb ass" inlaws can use the internet, anyone can.

                PAPER is for the birds!
Ditch the magazine - and get inline with the times.

What I don't understand is that the post had over 1200 views, but only 130+ votes. Where are the other 15,000+ members?

Bill, I actually enjoy reading a newspaper and would rather read a book that I can hold in my hand and turn the pages. I disagree that "everyone" has a computer. In fact, 60% of NCRS members are not online.

Lets get realistic about the use of paper. The NCRS Restorer magazine is a world class publication and gets better by the month. I am computer literate and have been for 12 years and I don't care to read the Driveline on-line. Much prefer to read the paper version.
On the other had I think the use of for sale/wanted etc ads have a place on-line and we should have a vehicle to allow that. We have a BOD to make the proper decisions for the rest of us. Lets get after them to solve this.

There is no way I can give a reply to your post without INSULTING the hell out of the 60%

The other 40% are gonna get tired of waiting around for change........

Do you guys have any idea how much stuff does NOT get advertised in the precious "Driveline" becuase of how old and outdated it is for a selling tool?
If I have parts to sell, I want to be able to sell them now, not in 30 days when a paperback comes out.

We are a society of "now", instant gratification - waiting is not going to work.

I will continue to sell my parts on eBay and other sites --- the members are then ones who loose out - specially those poor unfortunate 60% folks.

Good Point Vinnie. Maybe the BoD should structure a proposal and define what the scope of change would be and put it to an "online" survey vote.

Publish this in the Restorer so that everyone is made aware and set a reasonable time span for voting.

If the "yes" votes carry a majority of the membership, then we have our answer. We can assume all members who do not vote are voting no. This would allow those not online to "vote" absentee.

                          tc

                          For the record....

IMHO we are making this way too complicated. I think the survey question is this easy...

                          1) On a 6 month trial basis, should the NCRS create "For Sale" and "Items Wanted" forums in addition to the published Driveline?

If the majority votes yes, give it a whirl. If this causes a drop in advertising dollars, then drop it or start charging for the use of the online classifieds. After a 6 month trial, you will have a feel for the number of ads being posted and can establish a proper user fee to offset the advertising dollar loss.

Speaking only for myself, I thought the poll was worded insufficiently for voting, thus my post asking what I thought were qualifying questions. I didn't vote because I couldn't tell what I was voting for/against. My post on that thread stated this clearly.

What drives the cost/price? How would the proposed forum affect the Driveline?

Think more information was needed in order to conduct a proper polling.

BTW, I agree with comments that declare the Driveline to be too slow and untimely, at least for some of us. I also agree that there are a significant number of us that are not active onthe TDB, and if the classified were planned for the Driveline AND/OR forum (again, the poll wasn't clear to me). We need to find a way to work for all.

I want to vote. I want an on-line classified. Give me something to vote on/about. When?

Not completely true: we have 10,724 out of 15,223 (70%) members with a email address registered and I think at least half of the people who haven't registered an email address will have one but didn't bother to register it...
