C1 casting date to assembly line

1962 casting date of June 22nd, engine assb. date of June 28th, car assb. date of July 11th (VIN 13796). Thats 19 days TOTAL if the line shudown just for the fourth of July.
Sound normal, abnormal? Anyone have a 62 that came down the assb line during this time frame?
    Thanks, Steve

Steve, I think you are right on. I don't have a 62 Vette, but I have a 62 Vette engine. Mine block was cast just 6 days after yours, assembled 4 days after yours, and the car was 266 units after yours. Interesting.

    Cast date: F282 (June 28, 62)
    Pad: F0702RE (July 2, 62 - 340 HP)
    Vin # on pad: 2114062

      Hey Dan,
Thanks for the info. They both seem to be on the same frequency. Your car (according to the birthday calendar) was built 8 days after mine.
My car is a 340 horse also.
      Thanks, Steve

Small world - eh! Not my car - just my engine. I have no idea what happened to the car, but I bought the engine back in the 60s. The engine was probably blown, as I bought it freshly rebuilt - with .010/.020 under crank. I used the pistons back then in another engine, saved the rest, and now have the block in my 57. Almost ready to fire up. Sold the crank last year - I have no use for undersized cranks.
I have no idea who originally owned the engine, or where the car is now - or even if it still exists. -Dan-

I know what ya mean. I've got another 62 340 engine that I bought probably 35 years ago in south Ga. It was a complete long block, matching heads and all. Still standard bore with the 11.25 pistons in it. So few miles on it when I bought it that the machine shop didn't even have to bore it. I still have it. Would be interesting to know where the car is.
          Good talking to you Dan,
          Steve
