    C1 engine casting number

I have a block with engine casting number 3756519 that is barely readable because of slag cast in and around the digits. I have probed it with a punch to see if it has been altered with some material other than metal, but it seems to truly be just a casting flaw. The date casting (K258) is clear and it has the pipe threaded hole above the timing chain indicating a flint block. The stamp pad says F120ID. My question is: has anyone else come across a block with this slag in the casting numbers?
    Thanks

Short answer is yes. I have seen several and I have an 870 block with such slag.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks John. Do you think this would be detrimental in judging or in the value of the block in selling it?
