Muncie casting dates and P stamps are always interesting to study.

If you look at the pictures, this 3885010 main case was cast - the 3rd week of December (if not the 4th given the 4th dot on the side).

P date is November 1, 1965. Because by Sep 1966, the 1967 MY 5010's contained the year.

Time travel, restamp, or a mfg date anomaly?

The "P" number and the VIN are restamps, and the bolts that attach the side cover weren't used until the 1970 model year... Crash

I agree. Highly suspicious "P" and VIN stamps on that trans! My '66s M-21 original (I think) side cover bolts are all "NAT" except the one holding the metal tag. Its an "L". All are grade 2.

The whole area under the "p1101" looks like it has been peened/reworked.

This is a very nice car that is priced in the current market. I am sure that the owner has taken into account your observations. Paul is a very knowledgeable hobbyist. He gives to the hobby in many ways. In looking at the big picture this is a car that would look great in anyone's garage/collection. A 97% car at a Regional is spot on!

I've read the ad 3 times, and all I can see is that the rear end is called original to the car. The block and trans are called "numbers matching" and "correct" but nothing more than that.

The ad has now been completely re-written from top to bottom.

For the record the P1101 has a "O" not a "0" for the zero in the date and the angle of the 'carrot' on the 1 is different than an known un molested original of that same production week.
