    A Chevrolet question...

Sorry for the OT, delete it if you want. I have a good friend that just finished up a total restoration of his '65 396 SS Chevelle that he bought from the original owner. Does anyone know of a good book about Chevelle's? I told him to go to a Chevelle website but he is clueless.
    Thanks, PT

    Patrick,
There aren't any good books for Chevelles. Just go to www.chevelles.com or www.chevellestuff.com to find out anything you need to know about Chevelles.

By the way, the blue/green Chevelle in the photo is a 1966. Looks nice!

Yep ! www.chevelles.com or better known as Team Chevelle ! Been a member there for years. Great site with great info.

I don't know of any great Chevelle books.

You can also google ACES, the best club for chevelle owners out there. The club is led by president Chuck Hanson. They have an annual Chevellabration near Nashville every June.

For sure, the pic you posted is a 66 !! Great looking Chevelle.

that picture is a 66 SS396. I should know as I spent 5 years restoring one. and that picture was taken at the Maryland Chevelle Club show at North East MD. that is a big fun show that is all Chevelle and has that felling of a NCRS meet. I agree that Team Chevelle is your best bet to learn anything. that is where I learn so much to restore my car. good luck

Chuck Hanson? The same Chuck Hanson that chopped up all of those original Chevelles on TV? I'm surprised that he's still president.

              Paul,
Yup, thats the same Chuck Hanson.
He likes the original cars and still modifies some of them.

he is a down to earth kind of person. I meet him a few times at the Maryland Chevelle club show at North East MD

                  All----

Speaking of Chevelles, I was out at the Good Guys Fall Get-Together in Pleasanton, CA yesterday and saw this 1966 Chevelle SS 396 for sale. It's identical, inside and out, to one that I purchased new back in 1966 and drove until May, 1968 when I took delivery of a new 1968 Chevelle SS 396 (L-78 with M-22).

I'm not looking for another car, though, so I won't be buying this one for a "nostalgia trip". Besides, the guy wants $40,000 for it.

black out the head light extensions paint the bumper filler panel correct, and put the correct wheels and tires on the car it might be worth that price. its seems like every 66 SS I look at they forget to paint the head light extensions.

Could I suggest that perhaps he should have sought out this source of information BEFORE doing his "restoration"?

The red Chevelle next to it is a 65.

Here's a good book about Chevelle, Impala,Monte Carlo, and Camaro. The Chevrolet SS Musle Car "RED BOOK" by Peter C. Sessler. Highly Recommend for Chevrolet people. Kinda like the Corvette Black Book and Camaro White Book, same style book. Wave.>George
