    question on Old Town

I haven't been to this event, is it a big show? Many spectators? Is there a vendor/swap meet there, would it be worthwhile to setup a table?

    Thanks

      Gary -

The Winter Regional is a major event, with a large swap meet attended by most of the major Corvette vendors, and there are lots of participants and spectators. I'd think it would be worth your while.

        Re: question on Old Town

Well, now that I've been to Carlisle, it's no Carlisle. But, it is (for the first three days) an exclusive NCRS event and, therefore, it is what it is (for C-1's thru early C-4's). On Sunday (fourth day) they have another large Corvette follow on show which would include all generations (C-1's thru C-6's). So, Gary, it depends on who your main customers are. Many of the vendors stick around for the last day.

One thing that may disappoint some regulars, like John H., is that the A & W is gone. The store is still there under new management and a new name. Menu is pretty much the same, but the quality is disappointing - or so it seemed during our October Vettefest. So if you plan to meet someone there, refer to as the "old A & W", or stick with "The Blue Max" B & G.

            Jerry,

It's near Orlando, Florida. It's the annual NCRS winter regional.

              Re: question on Old Town

Od Town is Washington D.C.. Old town is in Kissimmee, Florida, which is Orlando's sister city where prices are much cheaper. Like Joe said, it is the place where the NCRS holds it's Winter Regional Meet, and has for a number of years. It is sponsored and run by the Florida Chapter, Ed Augustine, President. You can get more information from their website: NCRSFL.org.

Actually I errored in my first post in this thread. It is a four (4) day NCRS event (not 3), beginning on Wednesday the 26th of January, and running through Saturday the 29th. On Sunday, the 30th, a separate all Corvette show is held that many of the NCRS people and Vendors stay for. That is held by "Classic Corvettes of Orlando".

When things change why is it never for the better......the first year at Old Town they had a sports bar that had a row of TVs each on a different channel. You could listen to the one you wanted by selecting it in your booth...I watched Barrett Jackson and had a good steak....next year it was gone.

Thanks guys, I doubt I'll drag down differentials, steering boxes, or trailing arms. If anything I jump on jet with some cards and enjoy the sunshine, people, and cars. Maybe shoot over to Disney!

The Solid Axle Corvette Club is also having it's convention there beginning on Sunday. Old Town is like 2 blocks of stores and restaurants that look like Main St. USA circa 1960. Great place for a car show. I've missed it the last 2 years but will be there this year. Great break from the winters up North. Pretty good vendor area, lots of cars as well as the auction nearby.

Joe, According to the itinerary posted on their website: the opening reception is Sunday evening. Monday is a road trip through the country to Ocala and the Don Garlits Racing Museum. Lunch and a special guest. Tuesday tech sessions, lunch and the annual reception and banquet that evening. Host hotel is the Holiday Inn. I imagine many will arrive for the NCRS event preceding the SACC convention. It's always nice to see this group that drives these cars roll in.

                            Paul,

Yes, many old friends in that group including Noland Adams. Looking forward to seeing them again.

Will notify my vendor friends as many may like to stay and enjoy the hospitality of the SACC including selling a few parts.

                              Re: question on Old Town

Interestingly enough, none of our local car show news/media has any information about the SACC club event - nothing on Old Town's website, nor in the very all inclusive "Mike Kelly"s Cruise News", etc. Is this such an exclusive club that they don't want any public hanging around? Some of us old "Independent Axle" guys used to wear wide whites in the old days too, and may just like to see some old glass.

As to Joe's comment about A & W, well some of us old guys have a soft spot in our hearts for the old drive in hang outs where we used to flirt with the car hops. I know, that soft spot may just be due to the cholersterol still running through our arteries.

Never the less, ya'll come on down and pay our taxes for us.
