Past post on windshield removal-trim 66 roadster

I suffered a rock into the windshield on my 48 state trip. It is being replace under insurance by a company here in ME.

Do any of you have the link to a past post on the subject of removing the trim / windshield. I want to make sure I know what is done, what parts should be ordered, (clips, rubber etc) I assume the glass shop guys know but.........

I would like to have the outer molding polished before the glass guys do the windshield part and put the molding back on , so the request to see if I can do the trim removal, do I need special tools?

It is a 1966 Convertible

The tool I use is a flat blade device with a hook on two ends. Go to NAPA or CAR QUEST. They should have this tool.

I'd definitely clean up or replace the clips and you'll need a new gasket. I understand that the new clips have problems depending on the source.... There was just a thread concerning installation of the trim. It can be a real nightmare. You may want to think about reinstalling the trim yourself because I doubt a windshield shop will take the time to do it correctly.

I'm not sure if this will help you, it's a coupe but the principles are the same. I know... this from a guy who has'nt gotten his own trim off yet.
