I am installing a LH (driver side) fresh air vent cable on my 1963 corvette. (The car was missing the Vent Grill and Cable when I bought it.) The car does not have A/C. The question I have is the holes in the dash for the cable bracket are about 1/2 furhter apart (wider) than the holes in the bracket. There is also a square cut out in the dash above where the bracket would mount. The holes and cut out look clean, so I don't think it was done aftermarket, but can't be sure.
Am I missing some part which needs to be intstalled on the dash before screwing the bracket to the dash? I can't seem to find any mention of such part on any of the schematics I have looked at.
Also does the vent cable go above or below the hood release cable? I have seen schematics which show it both ways. Thanks. My first post, hope it is clear.
