    RSOSRV Mirror

I want to add right side exterior rear view mirrors, that match the left side bowtie mirrors on my 64 and 66 Corvettes. I'm looking at the Paragon mirrors. Does anyone know if their mirrors are a universal fit? They don't seem to specify in there catalog, except with the 63 long base mirror. I'm pretty sure a right side mirrors were not a factory option, but were they a dealer option? Matching Bowtie I mean? If so, was it just a left side mirror mounted on the right? What about judging? Thanks!

I don't believe the mirrors are a universal fit, nor were they a dealer option. You ought to wait for someone who has added a mirror to the right side. I have read in one of the forums that if you try to put it in the same location as the left side, the mirror will not be in a usable position. Verify this with another one of your cars with 2 mirrors to see if they are in the same place.

Robert, Good point. Maybe someone else will respond. I really hate the blind spot, especially in my coupe. I wonder if there is an accessory mirror that might attach, conveniently, to the wing window or vertical window channel? Thanks for your input. Glen.

Glen, I recall back in the mid to late 70's an aftermarket company made a detachable mirror to mount on the window frame. We used to call them "Right On" mirrors because they looked similar to someone raising their right fist over their head and shouting "Right On". I kid you not. Very period correct.

Jack, Thanks for the info. I'll be looking for something that I can attach that won't require drilling & that can be easily removed. Suction cups? Clamps? Magnets?????

here is a photo of Jack Panzica's 66, the car from the 48 State tour completed last month. Bowtie mirror on the right side, matches the normal one on the left. I do not know if driver can see it well, or if it is truly a right side mirror, or a left one installed on the right. Write Jack and ask him.

I cannot imagine there is anyway to attach it so it will hold at speed, other than screwing it to the door, and you will lose points in judging, because car was not delivered that way.

Don, Nice picture! It's hard to tell from the angle but it looks like it is in stalled in the same front to rear location as a left side mirror would be.
On the left side the rear tip of the mirror base is lined up with the verticle vent window pillar. I sat in the right side seat of both of my cars & looked at the left side mirror. In my coupe the verticle vent window pillar cuts the mirror view in half & that's with the seat all the way back. So if I do a permanent installation the mirror base would have to be moved rearward by at least 2 inches. Thanks for your input. Glen

I put one on my Grand Sport, and had to mount it a couple of inches rearward of the left side location so the vent window channel wasn't in my line of sight to the mirror. Wasn't real useful without a convex glass, but it was better than nothing.

After almost two years I have not solved the passenger side OSRV mirror issue & have yet to drill any fiberglass to mount a mirror. But here is an idea that may sound silly at first, so let me run it by you. When watching TV I do my best to fast forward through the commercials, but the other night one of those commercials caught my eye. I even clicked back to watch it again. It is called a GRIPGO hands free dashboard cell phone holder. It uses a suction cup to the dash and some magic compond to hold the phone. I thought why not a mirrror attached to my wing window or the door fiberglass. Probably won't hold up at speed, wind pressure, vibration etc. Take a look at www.getgripgo.com/ or google gripgo. Let me know what you think. Call me crazy! Thanks.

Well Glen, since you asked... YOU'RE CRAZY! Seriously, I can't imagine that thing holding at more than 10 or 15 mph. You would be lucky if it just allowed the mirror to fall off and hit the ground. More than likely it would send the mirror down the side of your car scratching and chipping as it goes. If you REALLY need a right side mirror, go ahead and mount one. Judging hit should be minimal. Chip.
