    Removing 1960 power window assembly

I have an original power window 1960 Corvette. I want to remove PW as an assembly. There is a factory notch in internal metal door support for motor/reg to come out. Does anyone have a photo of an assembled power window motor with reg installed?
I cannot see how many bolts hold the reg to motor. I can only see 2. With this internal metal reinforcement intact it looks to be about 3/4" inch too narrow to slide complete assembly out. I read somewhere I can remove reg first from motor, then motor. There must be a better way. Anyone?
    Brainstorming:
What if I remove the 2 lower rivets which hold this metal reinforcement to bottom. Maybe with rivets removed the reinforcement will move outward away from motor possibly giving me more room. I'll have to look again if ithis action will give me enough room.
Or, modify/butcher/chop/bubba reinforcement to accommodate this removal.
After working on these old cars and how crude they are, it's tough to imagine how chevy produced hundreds in one day. I wouldn't be surprised if this power window option was installed with door skin off.
I have talked to other NCRS members who said they left this option alone in their top-flite restoration simply because of the difficulty of this job. I hope to crack this nut.
    Thanks for reading.

      Dick,
If you have old Restorer magazines, or the CD, I did an article on this back in the early to mid-80's. Don't have any idea on volume/issue because I'm here at work. I wouldn't be surprised if they did it before the skin was put on, but it is definitely restorable from where you are now. I've done it several times, including on a 59.
      Regards,
      Mike

Mike: I appreciate your reply. I don't have the CD or the NCRS article you speak of. I have not gotten back to this car since my post. This car is not going the top flite route. No judging this time. Possibly, Increase the notch size in the door's internal reinforcement upright in order to slide out PW assembly as a unit. I like the notch idea in case I need to remove PW motor again once car is painted.
Removing the 3 lower rivets from reinforcement does not to give me enough room.
        Getting fun now.
        Thanks for your time.

Dick, while I'm glad to hear you got the assembly out, 'inquiring minds want to know' how you accomplished it. I bought an aftermarket PW kit from AutoCity a while back for my '61 and haven't gotten around to installing it yet. I read a number of threads on the Corvette Forum about the installation and also fired off a number of private messages concerning the regulator installation and got mixed replies. Most seemed to feel the regulator couldn't be removed or installed with the motor attached. Again, I haven't gotten anywhere near that point but it sure seems that trying to install the motor with the regulator already inside the door would be about as easy (or not) as building a ship in a bottle.

On the original system, it's all about having the regulator arm in the right position, and then securing it there before removing the motor. The motor easily comes out, the regulator will come out when properly positioned, and will go back in with minimal effort if undisturbed or properly pre-aligned. I have no knowledge of the repro system.
