    Frame stencil judging question/advice

After not being able to see the frame stencil on my 1972, along with recent Chapter judges who could not see it, I removed the front splash shield and found the stencil on that portion of the frame behind the front wheel to be in pretty good condition, except for the suffix which I cannot read. My question is whether or not I should use a stencil kit to redo the numbers below the part of the frame that the splash shield covers or simply take photos of the stencil and hope judges accept the fact that one is there. I would appreciate any advise or direction anyone could offer. thanks

Hank that is a difficult question to answer with out seeing the car and frame. If the frame is in very good condition or better and there are other frame markings such as shim marks. I would take several photos of the original stencil and leave it alone those markings like the car are only original once. Just my opinion.

I would take photos of the original stencil to the next meet and show them to the judges if they have difficulty seeing it on their own.

Don't change history for the sake of the judging manual.

I enjoyed reading all your reply's on judging frame stencil numbers.

My questions is: what is the suffix number after the main frame part number?
For my 77 manual 4sp I am restoring, the part number would be 363445_?
My 77 was built August 1976. I have a build sheet, only part readable. Would the frame stencil date be as much as 6 months prior?

          Thanks, Merry Christmas All!
