The judging guide calls for an orange paper label with white printing for the CV691C PCV valve. I have looked for pictures of known originals and been unable to find any. I have heard from numerous people that the the original tag for this application was actually light blue and a sort of hexagon shape. Below are some pictures of reproduction orange ones and what I believe to be an original hexagon one. Maybe this hexagon one was only used in service. Does anyone know the real story? Thanks.

Re: Cv 691 C PCV Valve tag
Ron, I keep thinking if I ask enough someone in the know will step up. But the more time that passes the more convinced I am that the 1966 Judging Guide is just arbitrary in this matter. There seems to be no basis in fact for the tag to have been round and orange. I have never seen a purported original other than the grayish blue semi hexagonal shaped one. Also I have not talked to anyone that believes anything except that the original tag was probably the grayish blue one. It is hard to believe that this is such a mystery with all of the knowledge here.
Who wrote that part of the JG? I would like to contact them if at all possible.- Top
