Front Bumper Dilemma

I am in the final stage of body on restoration on my 79 Coupe, it is now time to paint the car. The original front bumper is showing signs of warp and cracks, as is common with the C3. My dilemma is based on my painters input. He is saying that he maybe able to heat treat and remove the warping, but it will warp again and is suggesting I replace with a fibreglass bumper. I am likely not going to have the car judged but rather just enjoy it as new near car and maybe a car show or two. Any pros or cons with changing to fibreglass. I am told it is easier to get a good fit with fibreglass. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Fiberlgass will crack if you whack it; Tru-flex will give a little. Either will require tweaking to get a good fit.

I had the same issues with a '75 years ago and because I couldn't afford to buy new replacement bumpers, I repaired them and painted them with the rest of the car. Within a year or 2 they were a mess and I had to buy new ones and spend the money again paint them. Whichever bumper you decide on, get them now before you paint the car.
