in the last year or two, i've finished or am finishing restos of three c-1s. a 57, a 55 and now finishing up a 62. a task i've always dreaded in the past was installing the pair of machine screws to fasten the wiper motor to the wiper plate. in the past, i've installed the plate on the firewall, then installed the motor on the plate. the drivers side motor to plate fastner is a dastardly beast to get started and then tighten down due to severe space restrictions in this area. it can be done but what a PITA. tonite i struggled with getting that drivers side fastner and , after just one beast, i hit upon the tip. i just removed the plate, installed the motor on the plate at the work bench, then placed the motor/plate combo on the firewall and installed the plate to firewall fastners. only took about 35 or 40 years to wake up. musta been the beast. mike

Re: c-1 resto tip
well....I think that since you're retired, you're enjoying the beast more than in the past...no pressure...no work...just play and beast...a man of leisure and able to relax more and let the beast bring out the best in you!!!- Top

Re: c-1 resto tip
Dr. McCagh,
The last time I had the wiper motor off of the 56 was about 35yrs ago. That's the way I did it----------------it just seemed a natural way to do it-------------------and you've done a heck of a lot more early Vette restorations than I have!- Top

Re: c-1 resto tip
Hey Mike, as was said here by another, I too always did it this way. The first encounter was my 57 Nomad, same set up as c1 vettes. But I always have a brew handy. A dead one means all work stops till a fresh brew is retrieved.- Top
