62 Gas cap

Did the 62 gas caps say "not vented" on them? Did any other years of GM cars have the same cap?

I don't believe they did. The most generally accepted cap has an "F" and an "E" for Fuller Emerson.

The only cap we have documented as originally installed on a 62 is an FE. GM doumentation (AIM) gives room for othes, but we haven't seen them.

Only correct cap i'm aware of is the F-E without any other markings

John: Check page 33 of the 61-62 Corvette Technical Informational Manual and Judging Guide because a very nice photo of the Fuller-Emerson Cap is displayed. I have only seen Fuller-Emerson caps on 62 Corvettes even though 2 other photos are printed in the Judging Guide.

Those Fuller Emersom and Standt gas caps are spot on.

My early 62 (#1560) has a Standt cap which I believe is original. I have owned the car since 1966. The Judging Manual indicates that early cars could have non Fuller-Emerson caps. Jerry

My car is #0029 (Build date August 1961) so now I may have to flip a coin to see which repro I want. $100 difference in price from Top Flight Repro.

#311 had an FE cap when I documented it in 1974.
