    Be Careful

This is why you don't take your Corvette out in inclement weather. It's not you, it's the other idiot. Very sad.

Snowy and icy roads were to blame for at least three wrecks on central North Carolina roads Thursday morning, authorities said.

Go down the page halfway and in the article is a news clip. It's the first story in the clip. Once again, very sad. It was'nt the Corvette driver's fault.

      Re: Be Careful

Not to be unsympathetic, but no vehicles should have been on the roads in such conditions. The fact that the victim was in a Corvette is probably irrelevant. As long as people insist on 'must drive no matter what the conditions' there will always be tragedies like this. The risk factor is unacceptable.

No vehicles on the roads? You must be retired Mike. In the world I live in some of us still have to work. I don't know any other way to get there than to drive.

            .
Us Snow Belt residence, at least some of us, have learned over the years to stay home until the state has treated the roads even if it means being late for work. Late is better than injuring or killing yourself or someone else.

Exactly my point. Also applies when fog or blowing snow obscures vision- people drive at 70mph nonethless. It's the equivalent of everyone being DUI at the same time, a tragedy bound to happen.

Some additional facts for your discussion.

The guy was working third shift at Goodyear. When he went to work there was no precipitation falling, and only rain was in the forecast. Air temps were above freezing and expected to stay there, but the lows the previous several days were in the low 20's.

The roads in that area are in good condition, and had been brined before 11:00 pm.

The other guy, who may have been driving a pickup, is facing possible charges. Speed is suspected to have been a factor.

These conditions happen very seldom in that area, and people there are not skilled at handling them.

I don't trust others in this weather and try to never go out into it. Now days I have the luxury of staying home most of the time, but sometimes I'm caught out of town by my job or am out in it through a family emergency. Yesterday morning, during the time of the accident, I was supposed to be in that area on my way to meet a client. Fortunately, he was sympathetic to my traveling concerns and allowed me to reschedule.

If you're really interested, there's a very good chance that the car will end up at Sadisco East in Selma, NC. Auctions are the fourth Monday of every month at 9:00 am, and you do not have to be present.

From reading, the driver of the Corvette did nothing wrong.

Has anyone noticed in the last fifteen or twenty years how people drive. I don't know how they pass a drivers test but I guess the test is dumbed downed like everything else, a police officer could write tickets all day long. "A drivers license, I don't need no stinkin license" And common sense, rules of the road etc.???

Ever take your Corvette for a ride and notice how some people almost seem resentful because you drive something they may like to have, can't wait to get away from them..
