    Help with Power Brakes

I just replaced my power brake booster and master cylinder with correct repros from CSSB.

I bench bled the m/c and have great brakes but the pedal is too low. The pin between the booster and m/c was a fixed length. I adjusted the arm to the pedal to the length of the previous one. This holds the pedal back with the booster in its "rest" position.
Question, does extending the arm length to apply pressure sooner thus raising the firm pedal, cause any problem to the booster or is this exactly what it is for?

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I don't know and did not want to damage the booster if that is possible. Thanks.

    Bob,

Have you spoke with CSSB regarding this? If so what was their recommendation?

      Michael:

I called twice yesterday, got voice mail and no call back yet.

        Bob -

With the pedal at the rest position, you should measure 5" from the face of the pedal to the floor pan (not to the carpet), as shown in section J50, sheet A5 in the Assembly Manual. Use the threaded clevis on the booster pushrod to adjust it (loosen the jam nut and turn the pushrod - you don't have to disconnect the clevis from the pedal arm - then tighten the jam nut when you're done).

          John:

Thank you very much. I couldn't wait to go measure it. First, you had me discover I'm missing J50-A5 from my book!

When checking the distance, it was low but I discovered the lock nut was loose and the rod apparently self adjusted. I had what seemed to be nearly an inch of play on the rod before feeling snug against the booster.

          Problem solved! Thanks again.
