    Tire/wheel in my trunk

Just took the spare tire out and not sure what it is to. The rim is the 15x5, welded-not dogbone, with a wide whitewall U.S. Royal Safety 8 6.70x15 4-ply. Not correct for my car, but what would it be correct for? Jack and tools are correct. The little access panels were rusted closed, but got the screws out with no damage.

Mike, Would the spare tire be correct fo an earlier year corvette? I am not throwing the old access screws away. Just cleaning them up a little so I can get the phillips head screwdriver on them. The heads were pretty rusty.

The rim seems correct for your car but the tire would be for 59-61 replacement.

Jerry, I don't see DOT anywhere on the tire. There is anumber of some sort though 322635NO.

DOT markings came in more than 5 years after 62. That's no assurance that it's original. 62's didn't come with wide whites. It could be an earlier wheel and tire, or a replacement tire on an original 62 wheel. If it's an original wheel from a 62, and original paint, it would be from a blackwall tire car, because 62 wheels were black with whitewalls, body color with blackwalls and with 5.5" wheels.

My 2 cents - looks like a '60 or '61 wheel and tire from a roman red car. Since it will fit in a pinch,.......
