1970 Transmission

I own 1970 #4142 that has an incorrect 4 speed . It was assembled around February 10 1970. Do I need a 660 gear case or 661 to begin my assembly of a correct trans? Thanks Curt

All 1970 transmissions used the 661 case including the late 1969 Corvettes and Camaros built during the nominal 1970 model year.

Curt, You need a 661 main case for you Corvette...

Patrick, 660 main cases were used as late as Oct. of the 1969 calender year(I have a P0R27B 660 case VIN 10L147159 in stock)...

661 cases were used as early as Oct. 1969 calender year(I have a P9R10A 661 case VIN 29N119544 in stock)... I have seen Sept 1969 661 cases also...

remember 70 vettes came out in I believe feb of 70 and a lot of 70s have 69 parts on them (casting dates that is)

The first production 1970 Corvettes have A05 on the trim tag. January 5, 1970.
